#28 Book Review: The Towering Sky by Katharine McGee
Finally, I got my hands on the third and final book in The Thousandth Floor series! I started this series earlier in the year, not realizing the final book had not yet been released. Generally I do a good job about checking on if a series is final before diving in (thanks game of thrones for making this a necessary rule), but I slacked on this book as honestly I didn’t realize the first one was part of a trilogy.
Grace over at The Stripe is how I first heard about the series. She always described the books as Gossip Girl but 100 years in the future, and that is dead on for a description. The characters aren’t a perfect crossover, but there is a perfect girl who has an illicit love, her best friend, a nerd who falls in love with the popular girl, etc. But there is also MURDER, which is always fun in a teenage setting.
This was a great shake up from some of the more serious books I have been attempting to read. Between reading my latest Shetland mystery and Educated, I have started and stopped at least three other books. Nothing grabbed my attention. So I turned to my secret shame genre of YA, and plowed through the final book.
I thought about reading something serious next, but nope…I have started another YA novel! Sometimes I need a little fluff in my life, especially when my day job is so draining.
